We do Secret Santa at school (the grown ups I mean). Teachers, support staff and cleaners all take part and the idea was that it meant you bought one really good present and didn't need to buy loads of small gifts to thank all the support staff. We exchanged presents this week (at a socially distanced meeting 🙄 and everyone loved it. My gift was Prosecco, a personalised mug for my allotment and some GF chocolate shortbread. All very thoughtful!
But then my Gin Queen friends (who are colleagues) each gave me a gift. My Support for Learning Assistant gave me a gift. And our Depute Head always bakes us wee individual Christmas cakes all beautifully decorated. She makes a special GF one for me and another colleague. She's bringing them in on Monday.
Last month I bought a case of Prosecco to give as gifts. I'm planning on making bottle bags for them this weekend so I can reciprocate. Saves me drinking it!! 🍸
All very festive. I'm glad you are able to enter into the fun of things around Christmas despite the dire warnings in the news.
ReplyDeleteWe were supposed to have a shared lunch and open our gifts. But it got changed thanks to the latest news. Everyone is on edge as we hear about people getting 'it' for the second time
DeleteWhat a lovely and thoughtful gift. We used to do the same as well, but the principal always gave a gift as well as the teachers I worked with as an aide. The school board did as well.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
The Secret Santa organisers did a fab job matching everyone. We're trying so hard to do things as 'normal' as we can but it feels like a losing battle. Just 1.5 teaching days left!
DeleteI do love Secret Santas. We always did that within the KS1 staff and it worked so well. xx
ReplyDeleteI've never had a bad gift, it always works well in our school :-)
DeleteI like Secret Santa but sometimes it can be really hit and miss. Once I worked with a male teacher and the gift he received was USED hotel shampoo, conditioner and lotion!!!! Needless to say, he was disgusted, especially as he had given his person a really nice gift.
ReplyDeleteYuck!! I know some Secret Santas are gag gifts. Maybe the person got the wrong idea!
DeleteI love Secret Santa and always put 100% effort into the gift I give but then I also love to reveal at the end who bought what! I didn't join in this year at work however as they'd upped the cost to £15!! Call me Scrooge hahah
ReplyDeleteSounds like you have a lovely thoughtful staff. Hope you keep well and enjoy a nice break. 'It' is rife here, especially in the schools :( x
