I was double checking my Fit Note (the certification from a doctor so you get your Sick Pay) before handing it in to work and discovered that my GP has actually signed me off work until the end of this month. On my way out she did say make another appointment to see her again in 4 weeks. But I didn't put the 2 things together 🙄
I don't think I'll need to be off that long but it's a relief to know that I have that time available to me to fully recover!
That's handy - giving you time to get really well again
ReplyDeleteYep, it's good to have that 'permission' from a doctor to get properly back on my feet :-)
DeletePoorly bodies need time to recover...properly...get resting!! x
ReplyDeleteAgree! Don't worry, I am resting for Britain!!
DeleteYou may not think that you'll need to be off that long but your doctor obviously thinks it may be necessary. Don't rush your convalescence whatever you do
ReplyDeleteI won't rush it. I just finished my last antibiotic today so I'm hoping to see an improvement soon :-)
DeleteIt's good the doctor realises you may need all that time to fully get fit for work again. Apparently our immune systems have taken a hit during lockdowns as we've not been exposed to as many germs as usual. Perhaps you got an overload of germs when you went back to school and your immune system is struggling to catch up. I hope you're feeling better soon, and if not stay home!!
ReplyDeleteSince I moved from teaching P3 to P1 I've definitely been overloaded with germs!! I have spoken to a few of my colleagues and we think we're being 'too clean' in our classrooms. We spray and wipe all surfaces several times a day (it's all part of the 'risk management protocols') so our immune systems are not getting exposed to the normal Winter bugs. Plus all schools have a cleaner whose sole job is to clean all hard surfaces like handles, banisters etc throughout the school day.
DeleteIn 2017:I had a truly vicious viral chest infection. My GP signed me off work twice, for 4 weeks each time. I needed all of it. Take the full four weeks. You're much more likely to get properly back on your feet, and build resilience. Morag
ReplyDeleteOh that sounds like you had a nasty one! I'm being sensible and careful and will definitely not be rushing back too soon
