It's all over

Exam season is officially over in our house.  PHEW!!!  It was a rather mixed event for The Teenager so we'll just have to wait and see what results he gets in August.  No matter the outcome he's done with school.

Exam results get you into university but there are lots of careers that don't need a degree.  I do wish schools wouldn't tell our kids that it's all or nothing.  It just puts extra pressure on them.  I'd rather he didn't fail anything but it's not the end of the world if he does.  Just look at Bill Gates!

I really believe that getting a job or any chance in life is down to attitude and perseverance.

  3. Last Higher exam in our household yesterday, thank goodness. Did your son sit the Higher Maths exam? There's been a right old ding-dong over that one eh? I've told my son exactly what you're saying, about there being more to life than qualifications. I feel kids are under far too much pressure these days and often feel that if they screw up their exams then they think that's the end!! Having read the Student Room forum about how kids feel they've done in the Higher Maths exam this year, it's so sad to read that many of them think by not getting an A in that exam, that's the end of their aspirations and dreams x

  4. Yep, he did Higher maths. Hopefully the pass mark will be lowered if everyone has done badly compared to previous years. Luckily he doesn't need it for the course he wants to do (already got a B at Nat 5) so it's not as crucial for him. He just needs 4 Bs in English, Physics and Biology plus one other. Trying not to stress about it is easier said than done though

  8. He's hoping to do Diagnostic Radiography in Glasgow starting next summer. He does have an alternative career in mind - a police officer!!
