Work begins!

I spent all flipping weekend removing these tiles from my kitchen floor.

It was a horrible job.

All to save some money instead of getting the kitchen installers to do it.  Never again!! I'll just pay the £60 per square metre fee.

The kitchen was delivered on Saturday into my garage and the installers began work today.  The old kitchen above is gone!  I'm very excited even though we're living in utter chaos!

  1. That's a huge job to tackle, Ali. Looking forward to seeing the "after" photos!

    1. It's a bigger job than I appreciated! And I'll still need to paint the walls and ceilings plus get new flooring :-)

  2. How's it going now Ali? I'm in the midst of packing up to move house on Monday. No renovations needed at the other end, thankfully! Morag

    1. It's mostly fitted but need the plumber and electrician to sign off gas stuff and connect the ovens. Luckily not me doing the chasing up though!

Exciting moving house! Are you staying local?

  3. Well done, Horrible job but that will be it and money well saved. Once the new kitchen and floor are in and you are happily using them you will quickly forget the miserable job.

    1. I'm using the opportunity to have a clear out. I still have casseroles I had as wedding presents! They're now 35 years old!!!

  4. Sometimes DIY is a pain even if it does save money. I'm learning to tile at the moment. It's not fun! I imagine ripping up tiles is not fun too! I'm sure you'll forget the pain once its all done and looking lovely though - a bit like childbirth!!

    1. I'm learning when to call in the pros and when I can do stuff myself to save money. It'll be lovely - when it's finally done!
