Playing with fire

Well, playing with candles really!  As if I needed a new hobby 😂

But I've had great fun today playing with soy wax, dyes and scents.  It seems simple enough, melt the wax add the colour and scent and pour into a jar.  I'm already obsessed with creating the perfect candle and I'm loving it!  My house smells amazing!!

  1. Hubby makes candles using left over wax, it's fun and useful.

  2. They look fabulous. What do you use for the scent? All the commercially produced scented candles smell terrible to me.

    1. I bought 2 small starter kits. One had essential oils and the other had candle scents ie manmade. So far I prefer the essential oils as they're more 'natural' but the candle scents are easier to use

  3. I love your header photo of what I presume is the Scott monument. Correct me if I am wrong!

    1. It's the Wallace Monument, named after William Wallace and built to commemorate his famous defeat of the English at the Battle of Stirling Bridge. It's the view from my allotment. The Scott Monument is in Edinburgh, named after Sir Walter Scott the writer.

  5. I like the wee low round pots - where did you get them please? I've got some beeswax stashed for candle making later in the year, it's a very satisfying thing to do and a good skill to have for when tshtf. :)

  6. A lovely wet weather hobby and the results are pretty and useful! You seem to be having a very varied summer break and hopefully your back and ankle are recovering well. What is it like driving an electric car? Are they completely silent? If so, I think a noise will have to be added for safety, especially for visually impaired pedestrians. Vicki

    1. It's ideal for a wet day and it's fun as well as useful. My back is a bit 'nippy' and my ankle/foot is still a bit sore. All manageable though :-)

My car is a hybrid and it's so easy to drive. It automatically switches to electric when it has enough charge. A tank of petrol lasts me ages. I think the last time I filled up was June. It does make a noise in electric mode, kinda hard to describe. My neighbour has a fully electric car and you can definitely hear it driving past.
