Back to school tomorrow! :-(

Today was the last day of my Summer holidays so it's back to school tomorrow 😭 Can't in all honesty say I'm looking forward to it.  2 days of Staff Development (annual mandatory online modules plus meetings) then the kids are back on Wednesday.

I popped down to the allotment first thing this morning to take a video of the progress.  I did pull out 2 bags of weeds after I filmed it so it looks even better.  Just that last bit of the raspberry patch to do and fill the new raised beds with the free compost from the recycling centre.

We're in the middle of a thunderstorm just now but so far no sign of the predicted rain yet! 🗲

  2. Always hard going back to work after a holiday isn't it - so pleased I was able to retire fairly early.
I'm hoping the thunder doesn't start here overnight, it would be the puppy's first experience of it and I could do with some quality sleep after being sleep deprived during the heatwave!

    1. We had spectacular thunder and lightning but very little rain. Emma didn't bat an eyelid, she's so chilled!!! Hope your pup was ok!

  3. Good luck, Ali, and don’t overdo things. My daughter is exhausted already after a week back and having to use her steroid inhaler probably due to the heat. Catriona

    1. Thanks! I'll be careful :-) It's working in the heat that concerns me especially the lack of ventilation in the building

  4. I've often wondered why there is at least 3 weeks difference in the timing of the English & Welsh school's summer holiday and the Scottish one. Is there a historical reason? Harvest time or something like that?

    1. I'd guess it's a harvest thing from the old days, maybe for the tattie howking (potato picking) as we have to harvest earlier to avoid blight. We did finish very early this year (24th June) so we're back a bit early too. We do have 2 weeks off in October this year which Stirling doesn't normally do

    1. It was ok. Always depressing on day 1 as we have to do annual mandatory Child Protection training. A lot of our kids will not have had a happy holiday and it's a stark reminder of what we need to look out for in our kids :-(

  7. I worked until I was almost 65 and was still excited on the first day back! Mind you, things have changed in the 15 years I have been retired. Hope your first few days go well. Then you will feel like you had never been away.

    1. I feel your pain! Builders are not known for leaving everything clean and tidy as I found out last Summer!!
