I haven't watched the last series of Happy Valley yet. I'm saving it to watch during half term next week so no spoilers!! From what I read Sarah Lancaster has outdone herself and Sally Wainwright's excellent writing has made it another outstanding triumph for the BBC. BTW if you've never seen Gentleman Jack do watch it if you can, also written by Sally and on the Beeb.
But it was this quote that caught my attention. It captures perfectly my view on life as a 50 something single woman!!!
‘I’m just becoming the person I always wanted to be. Don’t take shit off anyone, any more. I say it like it is. I know who I am. Finally. And I know the be-all and end-all isn’t necessarily to get myself hitched to the first flaky twat of a man who happens along.’
Totally agree with your quote! I will keep a lookout for Happy Valley. I saw the first two seasons and got quite caught up with the characters although some scenes were rather violent.ReplyDelete
Yep it was rather gritty but well acted!Delete
Definitely. Though there are times with family that I have to remind myself of this.ReplyDelete
It's definitely an age thing plus certain life experiences that make you just think nope, not putting up with that any more!!Delete
We don’t watch TV. After reading that quote, i’d definitely give it a go if we did!ReplyDelete
I don't have a tv any more but I do watch some stuff on iPlayer or catch up elsewhereDelete
Alison in Wales x
Sums it up perfectly I thought!Delete
Yep, she summed it up so perfectly. :-)ReplyDelete
I LOVED all three series of Happy Valley, we went back to the beginning in the week before the new series started airing and re-watched the first two series. Now I'm watching all the Scott & Bailey episodes also written by Sally Wainwright, she really gets down to earth northern conversations just right doesn't she.
Enjoy Happy Valley during half term ... at least you will be able to binge watch all the episodes one after the other. Waiting a week between each one was hell.
I loved Scott and Bailey but didn't realise it was a Sally Wainwright one too. I don't have the patience any more to watch stuff weekly. I might watch it over the weekendDelete
You’ll enjoy the finale as it is so well acted by the two main characters. I found this attitude when I retired and no longer had to toe the Corporate line. I take sh*t from nobody! CatrionaReplyDelete
Just watched it and it was FAB!!!Delete
