Week 3 plans

The weather here in Scotland has been pretty atrocious.  We get one good day and everyone thinks summer is here at last.  Then we get monsoon weather.  This pic is from The Open at St Andrews at the weekend.  Rain actually stopped play and for only the second time in history the final round is being played today on a Monday.  The Teenager left bright and early for an unexpected day out with his dad.  Suspect he may get wet!!

On the plus side I've been getting on with my list and so far the kitchen, dining hall, upstairs bathroom and living room are completely de cluttered :-) Yesterday was OH's birthday and it was lovely to be able to just serve a meal for 7 people without the hassle and stress of tidying up just for the event.  The dogs are loving having me around.  Emma especially likes to follow me from room to room then when she's had enough she lies in her spot with her chin on the windowsill and watches the world go by.  Sometimes she woofs at passing dogs or growls at any cat who dares to pass through our garden.

So this week's target (can't believe I'm at week 3 already!!) is to de clutter the downstairs bedroom, make curtains for the living room and put the final coat of paint on my kitchen cupboard doors.  And if the rain stops long enough, a spot of garden tidying!

Slow and steady wins the race!

  1. The weather has been dreadful up here in the north of Scotland. We had planned to go camping for a few days this week but have wimped out and are staying at home and having days here and there. I think we've only had a couple of days without rain in the last 10 weeks and it's cold! 12 degrees today and poured with rain this afternoon again. We went to the beach with the dogs this morning and even braved a picnic in the dunes. Where else in the world could you get 2 miles of beach entirely to yourselves in the middle of July? No wonder, blowing a gale, choppy seas and cold, not everyone's idea of a day at the seaside.

Your dog is so cute. We have floor to ceiling living room windows and our dogs look out the windows, leaving a horizontal trail of snot along them - lovely x

    2. Lol! We're just being honest. When the sun comes out it is wonderful and it wouldn't be so green without all the rain ;-)

  2. I've not commented for a while but I've been following your progress quietly in the background! Sorry about the job, hopefully another, better one will come along soon. You are certainly making progress with your list. I feel I fritter away so much of my time, I don't think I could de clutter this house if you paid me so well done! I've finally started decorating our bedroom this week. I decided to get all the stuff together and if the weather looked like being summery, I'd delay the decorating but if, like every other week of our so called summer so far, it was rainy I'd get started, so it's now started! I've heard rumour we might get some summer in August, however given they can't reliably predict our weather even on the actual day, I find it hard to believe they know what next month will bring but I'm totally fed up hearing the weather men say ' it will be fine, dry and quite warm in the south east but in the far north west it will be raining and windy'. If they tell us in September what a wonderful summer it's been I might actually write and complain!!! lol x

    1. Hi Marksgran :-) Yes, also getting fed up with the contrast in north and south weather forecasts.

My problem with de cluttering is that I'm still dealing with stuff that really should have been dealt with before I moved. And really dealt with by my ex, not me! However, I am being more ruthless and anything that hasn't been touched since I moved is gone! The secret is definitely little and often rather than a huge big clear out if I'm not in the mood.
