90 Days

This post isn't about saving money or living well on less.  But it is about living well and being in control of my health.  I want to be fit and healthy for my retirement.

Yesterday I 'graduated' (that's what they call it, not me!) from The Body Coach 90 day plan.  90 days of eating amazingly healthy food and exercise.  It's not for everyone but it seems to work for most people who stick with it until the end.  In 90 days I've lost 4.5kg (10lbs) and 17.5 inches off my waist, hips and thighs.  I was already eating healthily and going to the gym regularly but it wasn't working any more.  I was slowly and steadily putting on weight especially round my tummy (hormones, eh?)  I needed to shock my body into losing that bloody fat!!

90 days ago I couldn't get these trousers up over my thighs.  In fact, the denim ones even have a gap in the waistband at the back!

This worked for me.  I don't think it matters what you do to stay healthy as long as you're active and keep switching it up to trick your body.  I've found that I like to do the same things and not change my routines/habits.  As I get older I've realised this doesn't work for me.  So I'm forcing myself out of that rut.

I'm going to keep going with the principles of the plan as I've still got weight and fat to shift.  I've got 5 weeks until my Australian holiday so that's my motivation.

Never think you're too old/too fat/too lazy to do something about your own health.  It's hard but worth it.

  1. Well done!
I agree completely about it being possible to lose weight as we age. I'm 53 and since 18th January have lost 3 stones. I'm unsure how much more I want to lose but at least another half stone as that will give me a normal BMI. Slimming World and exercise has worked for me, and my weight is currently the lowest it has been for 29 years.

    1. 3 stones!! Fab result :-) My friend has lost 4 stones on SW so I know it works for people. I've still got more to lose to get back to a 'normal' BMI but losing the belly fat has brought my waist measurement back to a safe level.

  2. Fantastic. I agree too - I'm 66 and I've lost over four stone since November. Mind you, I did have a lot to lose.
    Well done. You look great.

    1. Thanks! First week is Cairns to stay with my son and second week is Perth to see OH's brother and new baby. I've been to Cairns before but not visited the west coast. OH lived in Perth for 8 years and still has a property there

    1. Thanks! I've found that as I've gotten older I just couldn't do the same things I did in the past to drop some weight. eg I can't run any more (hips and knees!!) so needed to find something else that burns the calories. This works for me, my lovely mum found a static bike works for her :-)

  6. Well done! It's so hard to stay focussed on losing weight but you did it. I'm still at the 'thinking about it' stage!! x

    1. Thanks! Find something you like doing, even walking is good for weight loss. And the nicer weather makes it easier to go outside. Good luck :-)

  7. Good for you! It always feels good when you put something on that wouldn't go over your thighs before!

  8. Wow, well done, you look amazing already! I've now reached an age where I feel I need to slim down and get fit. I've lost 4 pounds in the last 5 weeks and I've upped my activity through using my second hand cross fit machine. Hoping that by Christmas I will be down a size or two.
