Yes, I do have a plan

I'm 3 days into the new term and I have already been asked several times if I know when I'm retiring yet!  The answer is yes I do.  Although I don't know when but I do know how.  I have a plan that's been formulating in my head since we came back from Australia.

First, I need to finish bringing my house up to date and making it sale worthy (on a budget) so I'm spending my cash and time on all those DIY jobs.  I'm working on a list of jobs to do and a schedule to do them.

Second, we will sell both of our houses and buy one together 😊😊😊 We have already looked online at the areas and types of property we like.  We've drawn up a wish list of  non negotiable items.  Large garage/workshop for him, large kitchen with Aga for me (I really miss my Aga).  Space to keep a campervan.  Garden/land for polytunnel and chickens.

Third, reduce my working week to 3 days.

Fourth, OH retires then I retire!

We both want to retire from our current jobs but actually we're open to still working in some other part time capacity.  We both have interests and passions that we could pursue that would generate an income.  Neither of us is the type to sit and do nothing!

So 3 days into the term and all is going well.  I have 2 new pupils who have settled into the class nicely but I'm getting another one next week that is going to change all that *sighs*

My classroom is still not fully set up but I'm gradually unpacking everything.  Hopefully it'll be finished in time for the Meet the Teacher event next week!

    1. I think I'm still good to teach for a few years yet but am remaining open to a sign from the universe when it's time to go!

  2. Is it other teachers asking you if you're retiring or are you just feeling that bad that strangers are concerned for you. (joke) lol. I like the sound of your plan and hopefully it will all work out for you. Its good to have a longterm plan to aim for, it helps with the motivation doesn't it. I'm desperately saving to go visit my son in Australia next year and it motivated me to find out more about selling all my 'clutter' online. I'm finding Facebook Marketplace the place to do it just now and its lovely to see my target getting closer. I wish you luck for as early retirement as possible and getting a lovely happy new home.x

    1. Yep, other teachers!! There are 3 of us in our fifties (I'm the youngest!) who are thinking and planning our retirement. Good luck in funding your Australian trip!

  3. My hubby does a small driving job 2 to 3 days per week, keeps him busy and happy. I have started a couple of classes and look to do one day in library. It is hard to suddenly find yourself with so much time on your hands, having different hobbies help.

    1. OH has talked about delivering motorbikes around the country (it's a thing apparently!!) or maybe doing personal training. I have several ideas up my sleeve ;-)
