New kitchen!

I am so excited to say that I'm finally getting a new kitchen in September!  I'm using the inheritance I got from my uncle and decided to splash out on something special that I normally just wouldn't have spent that much money on.  A kitchen is a good investment when it comes to selling a house so if I decide to sell somewhere down the line it will look good.

Over the past 8 years I've DIYed my wee kitchen to the point where it's all just starting to fall apart quicker than I can repair it as it's so old. So I've been doing my research and waited until there was a good sale on.  Units were half price and the appliances were 20% off with a price match deal on the day of dispatch.  It's actually the labour costs that are the biggest part.  But I think it's worth it to get it all done by one company and hopefully it's done in a week. 🤞

I've chosen simple cream units with a wood effect worktop as it's a small North facing room.  I've opted for no tiles but there will be a coloured glass splashback behind the hob. Fridge and dishwasher are integrated and I went for eye level ovens so I don't need to bend taking stuff out.  I love how the computer images look so realistic!

I just need to choose a paint colour for the walls.  Do I go colour crazy or keep it quite plain?  Undecided!!

  1. I do like cream and wood. As for small.....your kitchen is massive compared to mine haha! It should look fantastic when it's done.

  3. It looks like it will be fabulous. We just did another patchwork fix in our kitchen too. I said to hubby if we were to sell our house it would look ok till they got in then they'd get a shock as no two doors are the same and we've pieced in a different bit of worktop (although it's similar)! I wish you good health to enjoy it for many years to come! x

    1. Thanks! I'm really looking forward to having more streamlined storage space. My kitchen looks ok on the outside but doors are splitting, the dishwasher is broken, only one oven works etc. Plus it was my ex partner who was able to do the more technical repairs. By the time I paid someone to fix the issues and replace the appliances, I felt I was just throwing money away.

  4. Entirely agree with the "big fix", especially if you have the cash. I have been replacing appliances, counters etc, piece by piece and it is frustrating!

    1. I thought it was a good time to just do the whole thing with some unexpected cash. And it will be a nice way to remember my uncle too.

  5. Oh, that does look nice - good for you. I'd keep it all plain and calm and maybe use accessories to provide any splashes of colour.

  7. Looks fabulous. I'm sure you'll enjoy it for many years. As for wall colour. Something warm and bright. Half of our kitchen (luckily worth saving) has been painted in Wilko Jelly Bean. A bold choice for me and I absolutely love it.
