Questions!

So far the unexpected questions asked by viewers include:

What brand is the cavity wall insulation? (since I haven't fitted any, no idea)

Does the oven have an outside vent? (electric ovens don't usually need an outside vent)

How will I get the asbestos out? (what asbestos??)

Are you leaving the integrated appliances? (yes that's usual practice)

How much will it cost to put solar panels on the roof? (no idea!!)

Can you fit 2 cars in the driveway?  (no as you can clearly see how my car is parked)

Several people commented on how they loved the bathroom wallpaper.  And the artwork on the walls.

And they loved my son and DIL's furniture in their lounge.

But it's very tiring keeping the house clean and tidy while showing loads of people round.  On the whole they've all been lovely and very complimentary about my home.  I can check the stats on the website.  There have been over 2400 online views of my house since Thursday lunchtime.

I just need an offer now!!

  2. It’s exhausting keeping everything perfect for viewers and I always think it’s bad manners to comment on furniture and furnishings when viewing. As you say, one acceptable offer will be fine and then you can move on to looking for the new houses. Fingers and toes crossed. Catriona

    1. It's exhausting as you can't do anything else in case it messes up the house!! :-) xxx

  3. Gosh aren’t some folk dim with the questions they ask😱. There will always be someone trying to find fault and knock down the price, as you have had to have a survey/house report done can they not read it or is it not available to buyers? Anyway smile sweetly, act daft and when questioned ask them to elaborate on their question, usually they can’t. Good luck, it shouldn’t be long before a firm offer comes in and as you say ‘and it’s sold’. Sending positive vibes to you and hex’s to time wasters🧙‍♀️. Love from Jan in Castle Gresley

    1. I had one couple yesterday who hadn't even read the home report!!! I answered the wall cavity question by saying it would have been the standard of the time it was fitted. Since that's how the surveyor worded 'stuff' in the home report I thought it was an appropriate answer!! I deliberately haven't asked viewers what their situation is as it just annoys me when they say their house isn't even on the market yet. But a few volunteered that info and one couple told me I was 'brave' selling up before I've bought something myself! :-) xxx

  4. It is exhausting, I don't envy you any of it. Makes it even more important to get your next home right so you don't have to do it again!
Hopefully some serious offers will emerge. 🤞

  5. That's a lot of people who have looked at the website- hope someone comes to see it and isn't wasting time and buys it very soon.

I decided that if/when I move ever again I will get the Estate Agent to show people around!

    1. When I sold the flat I got the estate agent to do the viewings. But it was empty of all belongings. If my house was depersonalised then I probably would but I think if the owner is present people are less likely to touch/move things if I'm standing there watching!! Plus I can answer questions the estate agent can't. Even the dumb ones!! :-) xxx

  6. It was so many years ago but I remember clearly and still with annoyance, we were on the market, a very ' plummy' lady stood in front of one of our loved pictures and said in ringing tones " I don't like that - the perspective is all wrong " Cheek!
    Good luck x

  7. The trick is to ALWAYS put a positive spin on your answers:

What brand is the cavity wall insulation? I was told it was the VERY best at the time.

Does the oven have an outside vent? Luckily it doesn't need one.

How will I get the asbestos out? There is none that we have ever found.

Are you leaving the integrated appliances? Of course, I think I should, don't you?

How much will it cost to put solar panels on the roof? I've heard there are some brilliant deals around at the moment.

Can you fit 2 cars in the driveway? Unfortunately not, but there's lots of good parking around the house.

I'm obviously little Miss Happy when I'm showing people around. :-)

Good luck, hopefully some more of those website views will turn into actual views, you've only been on the market a week.
