That September feeling

I'm pretty sure if I looked back at the last 5 Septembers I'd be writing about how tired I am.  All of us at work are just plain exhausted already. I have the largest class in the school (again!), luckily I have no major behaviour issues like some of my poor colleagues.  But that means I get very little SLA (Support for Learning Assistants) support.  I'm trying be positive and supportive in the staff room but OMG it's hard!

Me after a long shower and full hair and make up done for a night out and I still look knackered!!

The promised berries never appeared but I did get a big bag of cooking apples this week so chutney making is definitely on the cards tomorrow.

Today is yet another painting day in the never ending task that is finishing off my utility room.  And OH is painting outside if the weather holds.

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend!

  1. You and my 43 year old, Ali. She sent a photo last night of her in her jammies at 6 oclock. Roll on retirement! Hope you enjoyed your night out-you looked lovely and that green dress really sets of the new silver hair.

  2. I know exactly what you mean! I don't think I was ever not tired before retirement. You have my sympathy!

    1. Even the young teachers at work are tired so it's not an age thing!

  3. My 30 year old daughter is a high school teacher. She is quite often in bed by 7pm. I definitely had a lucky escape; I finished my teaching degree after a cardiac diagnosis, but decided against teaching. I think I would have been in an early grave!

    1. Lucky escape indeed! It's just not right that teachers are soooo tired all the time. And I'm hearing about tired nurses and other hospital workers who are short staffed and run off their feet

  4. I've been retired from the school board for seven years now, although I did sub for the first. Every September I think oh I'm so glad I don't have to go to work, and I don't miss it one little bit. After 27 years it just got harder and harder. The mantra was 'Do More With Less', and that was definitely the expectation. No, don't miss it one bit!!

    1. We just keep getting more new initiatives thrown at us without enough time to implement them properly. Then it's the next new thing, and the next...

Really hoping I can retire soon!!
