I popped down to the plot first thing this morning to water my tomatoes and peppers in the polytunnel. All is looking good with flowers starting to appear on my tomatoes 🍅 On the way home I went to the 'big Lidl' and scored a £1.50 fruit and veg box.
I'll be making soup with most of the veggies, that's lunches for next week sorted. The lemons I'll slice and freeze for making elderflower cordial. I hope the melons are still edible as they look a wee bit over ripe. But anything past human consumption will go to Tuppence 🐔 or the compost bin.
A good £1.50 worth of food and all good for my digestive system (unlike the Too Good to Go bags!)
When a swede is a turnip.....what is a turnip?!
ReplyDeleteNice box of goodies - especially the melons - haven't had a melon for ages - must see how much they are next time I shop
Swedes and turnips are both just turnips!! Big turnips and wee turnips I guess. LOL!
DeleteOne of the melons was almost too ripe but I chopped them up and froze some
Well done, I love these boxes.
ReplyDeleteIt's all about timing!! I think they get put out at 10am just now
DeleteYou scored a good box there. Those frozen melon chunks would make nice ice cubes for a gin and tonic.
ReplyDeleteOooooooo, genius!!!
DeleteGolly, the easy peelers would cost more than the whole box here!
ReplyDeleteIt was a good bargain esp as 1 melon would cost at least £1.50!!
DeleteTurnips in Canada are bitter, rutabagas I love and are a little bit sweeter. What a great deal on all those veggies and fruits.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
You get a lot in these boxes but you get what you get so have to be creative to using it up
DeleteBrilliant!!! I love getting these boxes!
ReplyDeleteMe too, always worth the £1.50!
