Normal

I had a check up with my GP.  I got a thorough prodding, poking and she listened to everything that could be heard through a stethoscope.  And everything is normal.

In the last 4 months I've had a scan, an x ray and loads of blood tests and they all came back normal.

So why am I soooo tired all the time and why am I still breathless on exertion??

She really doesn't know but maybe if I lose weight and get my fitness levels back up to where they were pre pandemic it will go away.  Easier said than done 🙄

But it sounds to me as if you have long-Covid, post-Covid fatigue or whatever you name you feel appropriate. I'm suffering the same and have been for months.
There is a small amount of research slowly seeping out that the set of symptoms you describe could be closely linked to CFS/ME.

    1. Yep I think I have Long Covid although my GP was reluctant to agree as I only had 'mild Covid symptoms' initially before I then had the post Covid chest infection. My oldest son has had M.E. since his early teens so I'm very familiar with dealing with fatigue. My job is physically and mentally demanding so that is a big factor. I'm just so fed up with it all!!

  2. I think there are lots of us that although we perhaps think we have either not had Covid, or gotten off very lightly with it are very different post-pandemic to pre-pandemic. For instance I have only just realised that for the last two weeks or so I have had virtually no sense of smell, in fact I can't think of the last thing I smelt ... and this from someone who could smell a kipper a mile away.

You can set your mind at rest that you have had everything checked out, and if you can lose a little weight and try and improve your fitness (something I definitely need to do too) you are at least trying to get back to 'normal'. Whatever normal is!

    1. Losing weight will def help but trying to exercise when you're bone tired and sore is tricky. Normal is over rated!! But I would like to get rid of this permanent fatigue!

  3. Hi I am 72 so a good bit older than you and loosing weight as you get older is harder, I found upping my protein and cutting carbs to once a day and cutting out snacks, still had some wine, worked for me. Hope you feel better soon.

  4. My daughter is suffering the same symptoms Ali and is still having the steroid inhaler. She has gained weight as she finds it hard to keep up her usual walking/gym routine. She could sleep at the drop of a hat but tries not to nap as soon as she is home from work (which was 6 45pm last night). Catriona

    1. Dr said I don't need an inhaler atm as my chest sounds clear. I've started going to bed a lot earlier so I'm lying down and resting before I actually go to sleep

  5. I agree that you could be suffering from post Covid fatigue. Our oldest suffered for a long time with it. He is now much better and is back to his usual routine, but it took about 5 months.

    God bless.

    1. I think I'm just being impatient!! I had my chest infection 5 months ago and had Covid 7 months ago. I just need to take my time and look after myself better :-)

  6. I know it can be hard to think about exercise when you are tired and feel time pressed. I do some very short routines and they help. I do something which makes me feel better and they are so short that I can't reasonably not find time for them. This is one of them https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NRJdfmOPHlo she does several 5 minute fixes.

    1. Not seen her before so will check out her videos. I also have a rebounder that I bought before Christmas last year. It's still in the box!!!! Rebounders are supposed to be a good gentle way to exercise that gets your heart rate up

  7. Did she do a blood count To check your iron level, just a thought my daughter and husband both suffered similar symptoms their iron levels were at the bottom of normal and their health improved when they had a course of iron.

    1. Yep had full bloods done recently and everything was on the low side of normal. I'm taking several super vitamin and mineral supplements so hopefully my levels will improve
