Plans, pah!

 

Long term readers will know I've had to adjust and change my plans many many times over the years.  That's ok, it makes life interesting!! I heard yesterday that I didn't get a place on the celebrant course.  It was a generic email that basically said they had too many applicants but I could apply again in the future.  There are other training courses I could do so that door isn't closed.  I'll have a ponder over the holidays and see how I feel.  And make a new plan!

My B&Q delivery arrived on time with 2 very cheery guys who both had black labs so Emma was getting a lot of attention.  I'd cleared the 'craft' room so the boxes could be stored inside and not in the cold garage.  I'm hoping to get more 'stuff' sorted out during these holidays so the mini kitchen/utility room and craft room could be completed by the end of January if I get a move on.

Our Christmas dinner tomorrow will be low key.  I've taken food out of the freezer this morning to defrost and I'm so pleased to see all the yellow stickers.  I did splash out on the main meat and fish bit but all the trimmings are definitely done cheaply.  Can't wait! 😋

Plan? What plan??

If you're a long time reader you'll know since I started this blog I've had many plans.  Over the years they've had to change and adapt to stuff totally outwith my control.  Once again I've had to make some life changes and the plan going forward is that I won't be selling this house after all.  I'll be living here indefinitely.  That's no hardship, as I've really grown to love this house and it's location.  With OH's help I can turn the house into a home that really reflects me and my personality 😊

I've spent some time tidying up my garden,  The chickens have had total free range but I've put up a barrier so they're now confined to free ranging in one main area.  I put some netting over the old polytunnel frame to make a fruit garden inside.  I have raspberries (red and yellow ones), gooseberries, red currants, blackcurrants and rhubarb.  I've moved my 2 cordon apple trees and have planted up some pots with a few veggies.  There's also a pear tree right next to the tunnel.

This area was completely trashed by the chickens.  Can you see what it should be??

It's a water feature!  The previous owners installed it but I've never used it.  I tidied it and to my surprise it still works!

My purple hair is now fading into pink/lilac/blue and silver.  One of my kids said I had unicorn hair!! 😄  I rather like that description!

Oh, and I'm giving up making plans.  I'm just going to go with the flow.

Do not disturb

Yep, we're into exam season here in Scotland.  The Teenager celebrated his 17th birthday by studying and sat his first Higher exam this week.  One down, four to go.  The results of these exams will determine whether he gets into his university course of choice.

No matter the results he's leaving school.  He hates it!  If necessary he'll go to college to get the grades he needs for university.  That's Plan B.

He's got it all worked out *rolls eyes and bites tongue*

Plan B

My 14yo complained the other day that he has no clothes.  Of course he does, my ironing basket is full of them!  What he actually meant was that he has no clothes that fit him.  Gulp!  At 14 he's already 5' 10" and still growing.  With 2 older brothers over 6' tall he was always going to be a big lad.

But this means I need to buy adult sizes at adult prices as few stores stock decent stuff for mid teenage boys.  Luckily he has an older cousin with a penchant for designer labels so sometimes we get his unwanted designer gear.  And up to now he's been ok ish with some second hand stuff.  But it's the shoes and specialist sports gear that's going to break my budget.

So last night I had a little wobble about setting myself up to fail.  I'll never reach my goal if I keep having to buy new clothes for a growing boy, replace my broken freezer and all the other unplanned for expenses that are surely going to happen over the next 4 years.  I almost convinced myself that this will never work. 

But after a decent night's sleep and much thinking I've created my own Plan B (see heading at top of blog). Of course I'll have to spend money on bigger items from time to time but as long as I do it wisely then I'm still on track towards my target.
