Sisters!

I love my sister, I really do.  There's only 17 months between us.  We're very different people and live very different lives.  Growing up, this meme pretty much sums us up!!! 😂😂😂

But we're totally united in working together with my aunt (my mum's sister) on getting mum home again and on her path to full recovery.  It's taken a few days to work out what happened.  She fell and banged her head.  Hard!!  She has no memory of falling but has massive bruising to the back of her head and neck.  She has 2 small bleeds on her brain.  Luckily she's a VERY fit and healthy 76 year old.  Frankly, that's saved her life.  She doesn't need surgery so hopefully her recovery will be quicker.

My mum has an accurate set of bathroom scales.  So I weighed myself 😱😱😱 Yep, now I'm retired I have the time and energy to get my weight and fitness back to a healthy level.  I look at my Lovely Mum and thank my lucky stars she's healthy and fit enough to fight this.  I need to be too!

  2. Falls seem to be the number one cause of injury in seniors. I'm sure you and your sister will make sure she is safe and sound at home.

    1. My son (the radiographer) says she's now at even higher risk of falling and breaking a hip or similar. So I need to make sure her house is as safe as I can get it. Luckily when my dad was alive and immobile, they did a lot of work to make it safe for him. Grab rails, downstairs wet room etc. So the basics are already there, thankfully :-)

  3. What a blessing that your mum doesn't need surgery, let's hope she is able to come home soon.

    1. We are so grateful that it isn't necessary but she's frail and weak. It's going to take time but she's a determined lady! :-)

  4. So relieved to read your mum, whilst hurting herself has not done too much damage to herself, I'm sure together you will all get to see her home again. As for you photos, could be me and my sister.

    1. Thanks. When we went to see mum this morning, she whispered to me "Are you getting on with each other?" LOL!!! She knows us too well :-)

  5. What a scary time for you all but glad your Mum is making a good recovery. I started my fitness journey in the August after I retired and couldn’t believe the difference it made to my physical and mental health. Catriona

  6. I thought your Mum looked amazing in your party photos, I'm so sorry to hear she's had such a nasty accident since then. I hope she makes a good recovery with the help of you and your sister, it's great that you must both live nearby. Good luck with your own fitness improvements too Blods

    1. She looked great in her trendy jumpsuit!! I live an hour away and my sister lives 500 miles away!! My sister became a granny earlier this year so she has other family commitments. She's here for a few weeks then going home again. It'll be me and my aunt doing the support long term. But that's ok :-)

  7. Oh goodness, reminds me of me and my youngest sister - so funny!
Sobering to think that my eldest sister, being in her seventies now, is more likely to have a fall. Very upsetting for your Mum and you all , hope it's straightforward recovery from now on.

    1. I think sisters everywhere identify with that photo!! I think as we're all living longer and staying active we just need to be mindful we're not teenagers any more!! :-)

  8. Thank goodness your Mum is going to be okay, and thank goodness she is a nice fit healthy lady too and could (almost) bounce back from this. Our Mums seem to be there to scare us at the moment don't they!

I don't have a sister just one brother and we are totally opposite to each other in just about every way. Mum starts every conversation with 'I know you don't get on with your brother but ....' it's not that we don't get on we just don't understand one another at all.

    1. My mum knows we're very different but she made us that way!! We were treated like twins as we were so close in age. As the older sister I wanted a teeny concession to being the oldest like being allowed to stay up a bit longer. Plus everyone said my sister was the pretty one and I was the clever one. Didn't exactly help! But I do love her to pieces and only I'm allowed to criticise her. No one else would dare if I'm around!! :-)
